The Scientific forum entitled "140 Years of San Stefano and Berlin - History and Modern Times" organized by the Students' Council of Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" was held on two consecutive days - 26 and 27 April. On the first day, the participants commented on topics and got acquainted with student developments in the field of international relations, history and politics, and the second day was dedicated to law and security.
The event included students from St. Cyril and St. Methodius University of Veliko Tarnovo, the National Military University "Vasil Levski", the Academy of the Ministry of Interior, the University of Economics - Varna and Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar".
The Forum examined the changes in the sphere of international relations, economy, law and security in Bulgaria, the Balkans and Europe 140 years after the Liberation. The San Stefano Treaty, the political negotiations and the concrete results of the Berlin Congress are a good foundation on which to seek the genesis and multivector changes in the region, relevant also today.
The scientific forum enabled students not only to present their first attempts in the field of scientific work but also to meet scientists and experts such as Prof. Georgi Bliznashki, PhD - Bulgarian scientist, legal professional and politician, lecturer at Varna Free University, Lyubomir Kyuchukov - Director of the Institute of Economics and International Relations, Snezhana Todorova - Chairperson of the Board of the Union of Bulgarian Journalists, Prof. Petko Petkov and Prof. Andrei Andreev – lecturers at Veliko Tarnovo University, Assoc. Prof. Mariana Tien, PhD, research assistant in the Institute of History at BAS, the journalist Kalina Kaneva, Dimitar Marinov, PhD- a scientist with a remarkable number of scientific publications in the field of onomastics, a lecturer of Bulgarian as a foreign language at Varna Free University and Prof. Nina Dyulgerova, D.Sc., member of the Scientific Committee of the forum, lecturer at Varna Free University.
