The new Techpark - Shumen will add the fourth important component - secondary education to create personnel in the city for local business with its specific needs."
This is what the Mayor of Shumen Municipality, Prof. Hristo Hristov, said at the signing of a cooperation agreement between Shumen Municipality and Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" (VFU) on Thursday.
The mayor added that VFU is already a partner of Shumen Municipality on the projects from the Second Phase of the Concepts for Integrated Territorial Development, for which the two countries have applied together.
The Rector of VFU, Prof. Dr. Petar Hristov, emphasized that it is an opportunity for Shumen that the mayor of the city comes from the scientific circles, as well as that the university supports close ties with business. "We support unique majors", added he, giving the example of the Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering, which is the only one outside the capital, the IT department, choreographic majors and the Faculty of Law.
The cooperation agreement was signed by the Mayor of Shumen Municipality, Prof. Dr. Hristo Hristov, and the Rector, Prof. Dr. Petar Hristov, in the presence of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eleonora Tankova, Deputy Rector for Institutional Cooperation and Development at VFU, as well as Deputy Mayors Daniela Savcheva and Eng. Andrean Vanyov, and Chief Architect Assoc. Prof. Tsveta Zhekova.
With the agreement, the Municipality of Shumen and VFU are initiating a strategic partnership in the field of education, scientific activity, practical training and applied research. It provides for joint internships and practices for students, participation in real projects, exchange of lecturers and experts, organization of scientific forums and territorially applicable research. After the signing, an official meeting was held between the managements of the two institutions.
At 12:00 p.m., a partnership session will be held in the conference hall of the Business Club Hotel with the participation of representatives of the university, the Municipality of Shumen and the Industrial Park, before whom students majoring in Architecture at VFU will present their own designs for the territory of the Park.
