Students and lecturers of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" discussed the effects of the adoption of the euro

A public lecture on the topic Practical Issues in the Adoption of the Euro was held at Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar", delivered by Prof. Dr. Daniela Bobeva. Students, lecturers and guests of the university, who had the opportunity to receive answers to some of the most pressing questions related to the transition to the single European currency were interested in the event.

During the lecture, Prof. Bobeva placed specific emphasis on the effect of the introduction of the euro to the Bulgarian economy, its impact on consumer prices and the expected changes in the standard of living. Common concerns related to inflation, real purchasing power and the role of institutions in the adaptation process were also explained.

Prof. Dr. Daniela Bobeva is a lecturer in international economics and finance at Varna Free University. She is a prominent expert with extensive practical experience in the field of economic policy and finance. For 12 years she was a director at the Bulgarian National Bank, Vice President of the Black Sea Bank for Trade and Development and a consultant at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in Paris. In 1997 she held the position of Minister of Trade and Foreign Economic Cooperation in the caretaker government, and in the period 2013–2014 she was Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Development.

Her scientific activity includes over 140 publications, most of which are dedicated to topics such as the Economic and Monetary Union, convergence processes, the euro area and the effects of the adoption of the euro.

The lecture was part of a series of events at Varna Free University aimed at increasing economic literacy and stimulating critical thinking on important public issues.
