Students from different countries communicate and study together in "Conversation Partner"

Bulgarian and foreign students from Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar” gathered at the Language Center for a meeting from the “Conversation Partner” series for yet another week.
The programme is an initiative of the Department of Foreign Language Teaching and Postgraduate Qualification and supports the integration of foreign students through socialization, familiarization with Bulgarian culture and extracurricular Bulgarian language training in an informal environment. Bulgarian students expand their knowledge of different languages and cultures and develop their communication skills in an international environment.
Participants join after completing a survey on preferred languages, interests and professional directions, which allows for the formation of appropriate conversational pairs. During the weekly meetings, the partners alternate the roles of teacher and student, practicing the language of their conversation partner and getting to know their culture.
The format encourages both free conversations on common topics and participation in quizzes and board games prepared by the moderators. The initiators of the programme are Senior Lecturer Lachezar E. Popov and Lecturer Teodora Lalova. "Conversation Partner" applies established European and English-language practices for language and cultural exchange between students.
The programme started on March 17th, 2026 with strong interest and continues with weekly meetings, open to new participants. The meetings are held every Tuesday from 12.30 to 13.30 at the Language Center.
