STUDENTS FROM MASTER'S DEGREE PROGRAMMES DID AN INTERNSHIP IN TARGOVISTE

The internship of students from the master's degree programmes Advertising and Public Relations in Business Management and Management of Cultural Tourism at Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" was held in the city of Targovishte on October 21st and 22nd. The students, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Georgi Kalaglarski - head of the master's degree programmes, listened with interest to the lecture of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rumen Draganov on management of communication strategies of cultural heritage, legal and regulatory regulations in advertising, PR and tourism, as well as and the issues related to the socialization of tourist attractions.

With the assistance of the Director of the Regional History Museum in the town of Targovishte, the students visited the Medieval Fortress Missionis as an example of as an early Bulgarian settlement with its fortress walls with towers, two basilicas, the gate of the late medieval fortress and listened to a talk given by a representative of the museum and got to know the history of the fortress.
Thanks to the archaeological research of the fortress and its surroundings in recent years, the medieval city emerged as a large and flourishing, commercial and spiritual Christian center that existed from the beginning of the 4th to the end of the 14th century. The fortifications surround an area of 120 decares, and during its boom in the 14th century, the town spread over 700 decares. For ten centuries, Misionis played a key role in the trade of early Byzantium and the Bulgarian medieval state, with importance for the defense of the Bulgarian capitals Veliki Preslav and Veliko Tarnovo.
The internship was particularly beneficial for the studies of the students in the Master's programme Management of Cultural Tourism.
The students received an invitation to visit the unique historical and archaeological reserve Sboryanovo in Isperih Municipality during their studies.
