Students from the Smolyan Branch visited the National Social Security Institute

Students and lecturers from Varna Free University "Chernoryzets Khrabur" Smolyan branch visited the central administration of the National Insurance Institute (NII), where they were welcomed by Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Policy Rymyana Petkova and the director of the institute Ivaylo Ivanov. He outlined the scale of the institution's activities and defined the tasks before it, among which the most important being the administration of state social insurance, from whose budget expenses for the payment of pensions, temporary disability benefits, maternity leaves, unemployment and many others payments are made.

“This is a huge responsibility,” the head of the NII emphasized. “In 2025, the state social insurance expenditure will amount to nearly 27 billion and 400 million leva, which equals 12.7% of the projected gross domestic product, and this is the responsibility for the direct management of the largest public sector among all administrations in the country.”

The institution's approach to the conditions of modern global changes and their reflection in the administration of social security was outlined in a presentation given by Dr. Dragomir Draganov, an аctuary at the NII.
