STUDENTS MAJORING IN CHOREGRAPHY WILL EXPERINCE THE TRADITIONS OF BABINDEN IN SOUTHWEST BULGARIA

A joint folklore expedition of students majoring in Choreography at Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" and Southwest University "Neofit Rilski", Blagoevgrad, will take place from January 18 to 22, 2024. The students will embark on a magical journey "On Babinden" and will feel the atmosphere of the living tradition carried over in time. In their meetings with folk culture bearers in Bansko, Bachevo, Breznica and Razlog, they will apply their knowledge and experience the emotions of a field study.

The folklore expedition "On Babinden" will not only reveal the beauty of Bulgarian traditions, but will also develop connections between the students of the two universities, enriching their research experience and broadening their horizons towards traditional folklore culture. It was organized by lecturers from two universities: Prof. Dr. Katya Kairyakova, Assoc. Prof. Georgi Garov and Dr. Danail Atanasov. With this project, the two universities aim for the expedition to encourage field research among young people.

It is expected that similar initiatives will be held in other regions of Bulgaria in the future.
