The 10th edition of the International Competition for Creative Skills Varna Spaghetti Engineering starts

The tenth edition of the international competition for creative skills Varna Spaghetti Engineering, organized by the Construction of Buildings and Facilities Department at Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar", promises to unite the talents and imagination of students. The event will start on November 30, 2024, at 9:30 am at the University's Academic and Sports Complex and will present some of the most interesting engineering challenges in the field of construction and architecture for school and university students.
13 teams from vocational high schools in construction, architecture and geodesy from all over the country will take part in the competition. Varna will be represented by five teams, Sofia and Burgas - by two teams each, and Shumen, Plovdiv, Haskovo, Veliko Tarnovo and Stara Zagora - by one team each. They will design and build spaghetti towers in the form of an inverted truncated pyramid. Each student team will be helped by a consultant who is a student majoring in Construction of Buildings and Facilities or Architecture.
The student teams will work on a significantly more complex task - the construction of two towers connected by a bridge structure at a minimum height of one meter. The structures will be subjected to two severe tests - vertical loading and simulated horizontal seismic impact, with a special earthquake simulator. The winners will be selected both by a jury consisting of experts from practice and university lecturers, and by the votes of the audience.

The Department of Construction of Buildings and Facilities at VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" has been successfully preparing engineers in the field of construction for 30 years.
