The Aula Maxima Hall of Varna Free University came to life and became a scene of inspiration, creativity and dance mastery. The annual concert of the Choreography major brought together students, lecturers and guests in two consecutive evenings, in which 22 original student projects were presented. The dances covered a rich genre and thematic diversity - from ethnographic, concert and thematic. The audience watched students' creative searches that are distinguished by high artistic value, deep emotionality and stage culture.
Six divertissement dances were presented by the first-year students. The seven concert plot dances impressed with a clearly constructed dramaturgy and stage suggestion. Five thematic projects showed original ideas and a modern interpretation of cultural and social themes. The culmination of the two-day concert were the four graduation projects - thoughtful, stylish and professionally realized, bearing the maturity of the graduating choreographers.
'The Trap' and 'The Rock of Love, which presented complete artistic visions and intense emotionality stood out. 'Medenik Games', 'Jests in Shopluka', 'Rhythms from Pirin', Dobrudzha People on the Square' and 'Merry-making from the Northern Parts' shone with their mood and ethnographic authenticity.
A special highlight of the two evenings were the performances of the Ensemble for Contemporary Choreography at the Secondary School for Humanities and Arts “Konstantin Preslavski” – Varna, directed by Pavleta Hristova, a graduate of Varna Free University. Dances such as 'The World of Robots', 'Always Remember Us This Way', 'What I Believe' and 'Reflection' impressed with modern aesthetics and strong stage energy.
"This year, the students surprised the audience with their original work. We are witnessing projects of high value for the art of dance, distinguished by the choice of theme, clearly formulated artistic idea and performance maturity," said the lecturers in the Department of Arts Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ivaylo Ivanov, Prof. Dr. Katya Kairyakova, Prof. Dr. Maria Kardzhieva, Assist. Prof. Dilyan Galev, the visiting lecturer Dorotea Boeva, the visiting lecturers Pavleta Hristova and visiting lecturer Mario Egov. They said that the concerts are already becoming a tradition and with each passing year the requirements are higher, but the students respond to this challenge with ever greater professionalism.
