Judge Elena Yanakieva, Chairperson of the Administrative Court – Varna, delivered a public lecture at Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar” earlier today. The event was organized at the invitation of the Faculty of Law at the higher education institution, the Dean of the Faculty Prof. Dr. Yonko Kunchev and the students from the Lawyer’s Club “Prof. Tamara Hinova” at the Student Council.
Before the lecture, Prof. Dr. Petar Hristov, Rector of Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar” and Judge Elena Yanakieva exchanged copies of a contract, which formalized the cooperation between the two institutions.
“The partnership between the two institutions will continue to contribute to the enrichment of the knowledge and skills of the future lawyers, preparing them for successful professional realization,” said Judge Yanakieva to the audience. In turn, Prof. Dr. Petar Hristov explained that “According to the rating system of higher education, the Faculty of Law is in first place in terms of graduates who find successful realization”.
The public lecture on the topic 'Law on Access to Public Information – the Regulated Opportunity to Get Acquainted with the Work of the State and Local Administration' marked a symbolic beginning of the official joint activities. The partnership between the institutions is a continuation of the long-standing tradition of practical training and professional preparation of students. Its expansion will strengthen the relationship between the academic community and judicial practice, providing students with valuable opportunities to become familiar with the real challenges in the field of law.
Judge Yanakieva’s participation was aimed at deepening the students’ knowledge of the legal mechanisms ensuring transparency in government and presenting practical guidelines for the implementation of the Law on Access to Public Information.
The meeting was attended with great interest by students from various majors, including Law, Public Administration and Management, Business Administration and Management, Architecture, Civil Engineering, etc. This diversity of majors highlights the importance of the topic of transparency and access to information for all future professionals, regardless of their field of study.
