The Dean of the Faculty of Law participated in the celebration of the 35th anniversary of the Constitutional Court.

The Dean of the Faculty of Law at Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar,” Assoc. Prof. Elisaveta Kalinova, participated in the official celebration of the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Bulgaria, at the invitation of the Court’s Chairperson, Pavlina Panova. The event took place today, on the Constitution Day and the professional holiday of Bulgarian lawyers, at the “Revival and Constituent Assembly” Museum—the place where the Tarnovo Constitution was adopted in 1879.

The forum brought together representatives of the legislative, executive, and judicial branches, the legal profession, and the academic community, as well as current and former constitutional judges.

In her opening address, the Chairperson of the Constitutional Court emphasized the importance of the institution as a guarantor of the rule of law and its responsibility to society and the Constitution. Special emphasis was placed on the Court’s establishment as a pillar of statehood over the past 35 years.

Among the official guests were the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Iliana Yotova, the Chairperson of the National Assembly, Raya Nazaryan, and the Prime Minister, Andrey Gyurov, who in their addresses highlighted the role of the Constitutional Court as a guardian of democratic principles and the constitutional order.
