On 23 October 2025, from 12:30 to 1:20 pm in room 103, Senior Asst. Prof. Borislav Ganchev, PhD will deliver a public lecture on the topic "The Law on Bankruptcy of Individuals".

The public lectures and book presentations are open to participation and are open to students and lecturers of Varna Free University, as well as all those interested in contemporary legal issues.

Do Bulgarian parents know their rights and obligations and how can they exercise them – extrajudicially or judicially? When can a man who claims to be the father of a child intervene in another's family to prove his paternity? Is it possible to recognise paternity under the age of 18? What is the role of the mother in establishing and disputing the parantage from the father? Can anyone be recognised as a parent?

On 2 October 2025, at 12:30 pm, students, faculty, and anyone interested can participate in an open discussion on the topics of establishing and contesting paternity and minor, underage, and adult parents, according to Bulgarian law.

To what extent do tradition and reality converge or diverge when deciding the origin of a child? Does the child himself/herself, whose origin is established or contested, have rights, and in which cases, and what are the legal consequences in each of these hypotheses?

How long will Bulgarian society ignore the problems of early parenthood and all the problems arising from it? Can minors and underage persons be recognised as parents? And does it matter whether a parent wishes to live and raise their child, regardless of the fact that they have not reached the age of majority? What happens to the legal status of parents when they themselves are still children?

These are just some of the questions answered by the monographs of Assoc. Prof. Maria P. Petrova, PhD and which will provoke discussion on 2 October 2025, at 12:30 p.m., during their presentation.
