Analyza Gordino, the Director of the Portuguese Cultural Institute
Camois at the Portuguese embassy, visited Varna Free University at the end of the previous week. She was accompanied by Rumyana Staneva, a Portuguese language teacher and doctoral student at VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar". For three years, students, faculty and staff at the university have had the opportunity to study Portuguese and immerse themselves in the culture of the most western country in Europe.
The guests toured the campus, got acquainted with the language classrooms and centers in the university. During the meeting with Prof. Dr. Galina Shamonina - Secretary General of the University, Analyza Gordino thanked the academic management of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" for their active cooperation, expressed a desire to continue the partnership and develop the educational opportunities.
In 2019, a cooperation protocol was signed between VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" and the Portuguese Cultural and Language Center
Camois, regulating the conditions for providing training opportunities for university teachers and students in Portuguese language and culture. The document was signed by both the President of Varna Free University and the Ambassador of Portugal in Bulgaria.
The Department of Foreign Language Teaching and Postgraduate Qualification of Varna Free University is constantly expanding the range of foreign languages studied in fulfillment of the strategic task of the university for internationalization of education. This increases the competitiveness of students and gives them the opportunity to include in their professional portfolio proficiency in two or three foreign languages, including rare ones.
