The second class in the master's degree programme "Circular Economics" is realized with a scholarship programme provided by the Board of Trustees of Varna Free University, in support of the development of the innovative educational project. 25 people with interests in the field of ecology and environmental protection, representatives of non-governmental and municipal administrations from the country, entrepreneurs, etc., were approved for a scholarship by the Board of Trustees.

The master's degree programme "Circular Economics" at VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" is taught under the patronage of the General Directorate "Environment" at the European Commission. The programme aims at increasing administrative capacity in the transition from a linear to a circular economy. The first class of students, who graduated last year, included experts from the municipal and district administrations in Varna, directly related to the protection of the environment. As part of the training, they developed and found out solutions to specific problems, some of which found practical application and were presented at international scientific forums.

Earlier on Friday, the Faculty of International Economics and Administration at Varna Free University will host a workshop on circular economics, with the participation of George Kremlis, Alkis Stavridis, who is an investment consultant, mayors, researchers, scientists, experts, NGO representatives, professional chambers and business.  The achievement of continuous knowledge transfer and the improvement of local policies between stakeholders in the field of the circular economy will be discussed at the forum. Issues related to pollution assessment, the regulatory framework and governance at local, regional and national levels, the role of entrepreneurship and behavioral patterns will be addressed. The event is part of the project "Knowledge of the circular economy in the Black Sea basin CIRCLECON - BSB 1021", in which VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" is a leading organization with partners from Greece, Ukraine, Georgia and Turkey.
