The Law Programme Received an Excellent Accreditation Score of 9.00 from NEAA

The Law programme at Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar” received programme accreditation with an excellent score of 9.00, higher than its previous rating. The decision of the Accreditation Council of the National Evaluation and Accreditation Agency (NEAA) reflects the consistent work of the management of the Faculty of Law and the professionalism of its academic and administrative staff.
In the 2025 University Ranking System, the Law professional field at Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar” ranks among the top three in Bulgaria. Practical training is at the heart of the programme: students work on legal cases with sitting magistrates, attend court hearings, and take part in mock trials. These efforts are producing results - in April 2026, the Varna Free University team won the National Student Competition in Criminal Law.
The programme’s high standard is also reflected in graduates’ professional development. According to data from the National Institute of Justice for the class of 2025/2026, ten graduates of Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar” were admitted to mandatory initial training for junior magistrates - three future judges, six prosecutors, and one investigator. By the number of successful candidates, the university ranks fourth in the country, after Sofia University, with 23 admitted candidates, and Veliko Tarnovo University and Southwestern University, with 11 each. This success has been sustained over time: in July 2026, another three graduates took office as junior judges in Varna and Dobrich.
These results also help explain the growing interest in the programme. This year, nearly 300 first-year students are beginning their legal studies in full-time and part-time mode of training. The programme is attracting an increasing number of talented young people with a strong commitment to civic engagement. One notable example is first-year student Borislav Smirnov, who is among the founders of the Varna Student Council and represents Varna in the National Student Parliament. A graduate of Dimcho Debelyanov Secondary School in Varna, he has chosen to continue his development at the university. His colleague Vladislava Georgieva is a top-performing graduate of the Foreign Language High School “Exarch Yosif” in Razgrad and a distinguished creative talent, who is likewise pursuing her future at the Faculty of Law of Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar.”
