THE TEAM OF VFU "CHERNORIZETS HRABAR" WITH EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE AT THE 9TH INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR ENTITLED TRAINING IN TRANSLATION MASTERY IN PLOVDIV

Students of VFU “Chernorizets Hrabar” participate in the 9th International Scientific and Practical Seminar entitled Training in Translation Mastery held at Paisiy Hilendarski University of Plovdiv. The ninth edition of the seminar is dedicated to the year of theatre in Russia and is on the topic of Theatre as Translation and Translation as Theatre.
The team of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" is represented by Miglena Dimitrova - head, technical assistant at the Russian Centre, Yasmin Barakat – 4th – year student of International Relations and Law, Valentin Markov – 3rd  – year student of International Relations and Doroteya Nikolaeva - president of the Student Council and 2nd – year student of  Architecture.

The team of Varna Free University took part in the roundtable discussion on The Classic Drama in the Mirror of Modern Life and presented its vision for a classic Russian play in a contemporary version. The students showed their own film “Ruslan without Ludmila” - a modern look at a fairy tale drama. The homework gathered the applause of the participants and the audience for their choice of theme, their sense of humour and their excellent performance.

This year, 54 students from Bulgaria and abroad participate in the project. Plovdiv University, Sofia University, Varna Free University, Veliko Turnovo University, New Bulgarian University, Shumen University represent Bulgaria. The foreign teams are from the Thracian University St Democritus (Greece), Belgrade University (Serbia), University of Budapest, Eötvös Loránd University (Hungary), University of Milan (Italy), Krakow Pedagogical University (Poland), Istanbul University (Turkey) and Mimar Sinan University (Turkey).

The opening ceremony was attended by a representative of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Bulgaria, R. R. Shestakov, the Rector for Research and Publishing at the University of Plovdiv – Prof. Temenuzhka Yovcheva, professors and representatives of the leadership of the Faculty of Philology at the University of Plovdiv and specialized university centres.

The seminar continues until 17 November, with participants having the opportunity to participate in workshops, lectures and master classes in translation, which will be conducted by renowned Bulgarian and Russian scholars.
