THE TEAM OF VFU "CHERNORIZETS HRABER" IS THE WINNER IN THE FIRST NATIONAL STUDENT COMPETITION IN ADMINISTRATIVE AND LEGAL SCIENCES!

The team of Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" was awarded first place in the national student competition in administrative and legal sciences. The excellent performance of the fifth-year students majoring in Law - Slavena Georgieva - team captain, Maria Bozhinova, Kremena Kostadinova, Gulfidan Eminova and Tsvetelina Stoyanova, ranked them at the top of the competition.

First place in a national student competition in administrative and legal sciences, which was held over the weekend at the Supreme Administrative Court, was given to three teams - Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar", New Bulgarian University and Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski, reported the press center of The Supreme Administrative Court (SAC). The winners received a cash prize and the opportunity for an internship at the SAC. The awards were presented by the Vice-Chairperson of the SAC Lyubomir Gaydov. Six teams from the country's leading law schools participated in the competition.

The lot in the competition chose that the team of Varna Free University has to compete in the role of the appellant against the team of the Southwest University "Neofit Rilski" in the first hall of the SAC. The students had to solve a case involving an American citizen with a child from a Bulgarian woman who wanted to take him out of Bulgaria, and appealed an instruction of the Ministry of the Interior, requiring the consent of one parent when the child travels outside the country. The arbitrators of the competition - judges from the Supreme Administrative Court, from the Administrative Court Sofia - city and Administrative Court - Sofia region, determined that the team of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" was the winner.

The fifth-year students from Varna Free University have shown excellent knowledge and talent within their studies so far, as well as in solving study cases. The team captain, Slavena Georgieva, has experience from the previous year, when she represented the university in a competition to solve civil and commercial law cases. Kremena Kostadinova was in the top six of the National competition for scientific essays in honor of Christian Takov in 2023. Maria Bozhinova combines her studies in Law with a second specialty - Construction Management and actively emphasizes the importance of young and competent people for the development of Varna. For the prestigious competition, which is being held for the first time in Bulgaria, the team was prepared by the coaches, who are also lecturers of the students - Prof. Dr. Olga Borisova - Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Law at VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar", Dr. Mr. Marina Mihaiyova - a judge with over 25 years of experience in the Supreme Administrative Court and Assist. Prof. Gergana Stoyanova - who has 22 years of legal experience and has been a judge for 15 years in the Administrative Court - Varna.

Special prizes, presented by judge Galina Solakova, chairperson of the competition jury, were also awarded. The event was initiated by the Supreme Administrative Court in partnership with New Bulgarian University and Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski. Its purpose is to provide an opportunity for future lawyers to put into practice the acquired knowledge of administrative law and process, to familiarize themselves with the work of the judicial system and to strengthen the confidence in the Bulgarian justice system.
