THE UNIVERSITY LIBRARY WITH AN EXHIBITION DEDICATED TO THE DAY OF THE BULGARIAN CONSTITUTION

The University Library at VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" presents an exhibition dedicated to April 16 - the Day of the Bulgarian Constitution and a professional holiday of lawyers in the country. On this day in 1879, the 1st Grand National Assembly adopted the Constitution of Tarnovo - the first Bulgarian constitution, which marked the beginning of the legislation in the country.

The exposition of the University Library is arranged in several parts. Historically, publications related to the preparation and adoption of the first Constitution can be seen. A special exhibit is a book, considered a relic, which contains a copy of the original Constitution of the Principality of Bulgaria with the signatures of the Chairman of the National Assembly of Bulgaria Exarch Anthim I and Vice Chairmen Petko Karavelov, Todor Ikonomov and Metropolitan Simeon Varnenski and Preslavski. The texts in the original were handwritten by Georgi Yakovlevich Kirkov.
The exhibition also contains various editions of the Constitution and the constitutional law in Bulgaria. It is rich in monographs, articles and textbooks on constitutionalism, with authors who are prominent professors at Varna Free University. The exhibition also includes diploma theses of students dedicated to the basic law and defended at the university.

One can also see the constitutions of the European Union, Italy, France, Switzerland, Austria, Japan, the Netherlands, Russia and the United States at the University Library.

The official opening of the exhibition will be on April 15 at 11.30 am. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emilia Siderova - a lecturer in Constitutional Law at the Faculty of Law at VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" willl talk about the Constitution.
