The differences between marketing today and ten years ago, web tools and their usage, Internet, social networks, new spaces to communicate ideas and business solutions, Internet advertising and optimization were some of the topics discussed by lecturers and participants in the master class in Digital Marketing, held at Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar”.
The event, which was part of the “Transfer of Innovation - Coventry” project, was attended by students and specialists from various areas, including owners of business enterprises and websites, marketers, PR experts and web developers.
Lecturers at the event were Ivelina Atanasova from Newtrend: Media | Marketing | Events and Dimi Ilieva from First Online Solutions.
Ivelina Atanasova is a consultant in strategic marketing and business strategies, owner of Newtrend: Media | Marketing | Events, which was awarded the Best Online Media in Bulgaria prize in 2012. She is the organiser of Digital KidZ – the first conference in Bulgaria dedicated to children and technologies. She has more than ten years of experience in the field of marketing and advertising, and holds various in-company corporate training events.
Dimi Ilieva has been working in the sphere of digital marketing and communications in the past 5 years. Her clients and projects include small and medium-size business enterprises in Bulgaria, as well as international brands from Great Britain, continental Europe, Qatar and others. She starts her career in online marketing as Digital PR in one of the first agencies for digital marketing and online communications in Varna, with a team of only ten people. Today she is happy to face the challenge to be a Strategic Marketing Manager at First Online Solutions – a company with over 450 employees and offices on three continents, and to carry out projects which any specialist in this area dreams about.
Within a two-day master class, 17th and 18th January, the two ladies shared with the participants their practical experience and the latest developments in the theory and practice of digital marketing.
“We were completely satisfied not only with the high attendance but also with the feedback we got after that”, said the organisers of the master class from the Department of Computer Science of Varna Free University. They also believe that the thirst for knowledge should be unquenchable, not only in one’s personal life but also in the corporate area one is involved with. The changes in the field of digital marketing are very dynamic. Within just one minute 204 million electronic messages are sent online, 277 thousand hits are registered on Facebook and 2 million searches are made on Google. According to a survey, in 2015 and 2016 the global Internet traffic is expected to grow fourfold. This is due to the current social and media communication model, which maintains a staggering growth. Therefore, we have to invest in our education and in the development of practical skills and digital competences.
The next master class organised by the university Academy of Knowledge and Innovation focuses on another topical issue – Angels Investors as a Form of Business Funding. Lecturers will be the well-known to the Varna public Eli Miron, PhD and Gilad Ravid, PhD from the Ben Gurion University in Israel.
