Varna Free University and Sakarya University with a new joint programme in fire engineering

Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" and Sakarya University in Turkey have started a new academic partnership in the field of fire engineering.

During an official visit to Turkey, the rector of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" Prof. Petar Hristov and Dr. Nadie Adem held a meeting with the rector of Sakarya University Prof. Dr. Hamza Al. It was agreed to start a joint bachelor's programme in the field of fire engineering.

The prospects for expanding cooperation in the context of the Erasmus+ programme were also discussed, with an emphasis on the development of joint academic initiatives and joint activities in strategic areas.

"The partnership between the two universities is entering a new stage. The results achieved in the past two years show that we are moving in the right direction," noted Prof. Hristov.

Prof. Dr. Hamza Al expressed confidence that the joint work will not be limited only to the field of fire safety, but will also expand to other areas of higher education and science.

The meeting was also attended by Prof. Dr. Hakan Soyhan - Director of the Fire Research Center at Sakarya University. He emphasized the need for prepared specialists in the conditions of increasing risks and emphasized that the new educational programme will be integrated with the existing master's and doctoral programmes. The training will be conducted in Turkish.

In 2023, Varna Free University began training in the master's programme 'Intelligent Security Systems', which is conducted in Turkish. The first class of students has already graduated.
