Varna Free University and Shumen Municipality will sign a cooperation agreement

Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" and the Shumen Municipality will launch a strategic partnership in the field of education, scientific activity, practical training and applied research. The signing of the agreement will take place on July 17th, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in the municipal administration building, with the participation of the rector of the university, Prof. Dr. Petar Hristov, and the mayor of the Municipality Prof. Dr. Hristo Hristov. An official meeting between the managements of the two institutions is planned, followed by a presentation of student architectural projects developed for the territory of the Industrial Park in the city.
The agreement reflects the aspiration of both parties to permanently link academic training with the specific social and economic challenges in the region. Joint activities are planned such as internships and practices for students, participation in real projects with a practical focus, exchange of lecturers and experts, as well as the organization of scientific forums and territorially applicable research. The cooperation is in line with the priorities of the Municipality of Shumen, aimed at building sustainable infrastructure, developing a competitive local economy, improving the urban environment, promoting education and social activities and integrated urban planning.
On the same day, at 12:00, in the conference hall of the Business Club Hotel, a partnership session will be held with the participation of representatives of the university, the Municipality and the Shumen Industrial Park. The emphasis will be on the presentation of projects prepared by students from the Department of Architecture at Varna Free University. The designs are within the course in Production Buildings and Complexes and offer sustainable and functional solutions adapted to the needs of the industrial zone. Spas Spasov with the Shumen - Industrial Park bus station, Tsvetan Mitev with a factory for the production of metal machine parts, Milena Georgieva with a warehouse with an administrative part, Monika Alexandrova with a perfume and cosmetics factory, Dimana Yotovska with a toy factory, Dorothea Dimitrova with a confectionery production building and Slavena Karabogdanova with a shoe factory will present their pre-diploma projects. The projects were implemented under the management of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arch. Tsveta Zhekova and Senior Asst. Prof. Dr. Arch. Petar Nikolov.
The meeting aims at strengthening the interaction between higher education, local government and business as a stable basis for balanced and sustainable development of Shumen.
