At a special ceremony on March 16, Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" will present innovative Master's degree programmes in Cyber Security and Intelligent Systems for the Protection of the Population. The project for the establishment of the Black Sea Academy of Security will be announced during the event.
The new programmes are a joint project of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" and Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy in Varna, specialists from Israel, the EU and Russia.
The University will welcome a multitude of world-renowned experts, scientists, policy makers, cyber security and technology analysts and practitioners, including Ariel Cohen, one of the Top 5 security advisers in the world and adviser to the Israeli Prime Minister on Security; Tochil Nuaneri, Ambassador and Special Envoy of the President of the Central African Republic; Prof. Yove Kekenovski - Strategic Policy and Security Expert, Mayor of Skopje in 1995-1996 and NATO Ambassador; Academician Vladimir Kambovski - International Security Specialist, Minister of Justice of Macedonia in 1998-1999 and Chairman of the Macedonian Academy of Sciences; Dennis Barinov - Director of Education at Kaspersky Lab - the largest European company specialized in the development of antivirus software, Academician Stefan Vodenicharov - Minister of Education and Science in 2013, President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, registered in The Gold Book of the Patent Office's Inventors in 2006; corresponding member Stefan Hadjitodorov - Director of the Center for National Security and Defense Research (CNSDR) at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences; Prof. Radoslav Yoshinov - Director of Telematics Laboratory at the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, founder of BREN (Bulgarian Research and Education Network).
There will be full-time and part-time Master's degree programmes, for three semesters per calendar year. The programme offers specialized elective courses in two main fields - Data Science (for advanced analysts) and HealthTech (for the training of people in careers in the field of health security).
A modern educational strategy based on training sessions, specialized seminars, workshops, simulations, case studies and practical sessions in computer labs, training and independent study is used. The content of the curriculum has been developed within the framework of international security regulations, in particular the Cyber Security Curriculum Guideline CSEC 2018.
