Varna Free University Offers Free Courses in Japanese and Portuguese Language and Culture

Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar” is offering free year-round courses in Japanese and Portuguese language and culture to students from all degree programmes and modes of study. Registration is open until 6 October 2026 here.

The courses are organized by the Department of Foreign Language Teaching and Postgraduate Qualification as part of the University’s cooperation with ICEA - the International Cross-Cultural Exchange Association in Japan and the Camões Institute - the Portuguese Cultural and Language Centre at the Embassy of Portugal in Bulgaria.

The Japanese Language and Culture course will begin on 12th October 2026. Classes will be held in person once a week after 4:00 p.m., with students working in small groups. The course will be taught by Ms Yoshiko Soneda from Japan, a native speaker of Japanese.

The Portuguese Language and Culture course will be delivered online in the afternoon and evening and will be taught by a team from the Camões Institute.

All learning materials for both courses will be provided free of charge. Participants will receive certificates upon successful completion of the courses.
