VARNA FREE UNIVERSITY PARTICIPATES IN AN INTERNATIONAL PROJECT TO INCREASE RESILIENCE AGAINST NATURAL DISASTERS

Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" is a partner in the project "Black Sea Unites Against Natural Disasters - BSB01014", co-financed by the INTERREG NEXT Black Sea Basin 2021-2027 programme. The main objective of the project is to increase the resilience of the Black Sea region against natural disasters through joint actions, exchange of experience and implementation of innovative solutions in the field of risk management.

The project activities include conducting trainings to raise awareness about natural disasters, visits to disaster training centres, improving the equipment and technical support of search and rescue teams, awareness-raising initiatives among students and citizens, as well as international meetings for the exchange of experience between professionals and volunteers in the field of disaster management. It is also planned to prepare recommendations to state authorities on the challenges that hinder the effective activity of non-governmental organizations working in this field.

The lead partner of the project is the Trakia Development Agency, Tekirdag, Turkey. Partners are Varna Free University, the Greek Rescue Team Association, Greece and the Tekirdag Municipality. The project implementation period is from 2 September 2025 to 1 March 2027.
