VARNA FREE UNIVERSITY SIGNED A MEMORANDUM OF COOPERATION WITH REGIONAL ADMINISTRATION – VARNA

Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar” and Varna Regional Administration signed a memorandum of cooperation, which lays the foundations for future joint initiatives in the fields of education, science and social development.
The document was signed by the Rector of Varna Free University Prof. Petar Hristov, PhD and the Regional Governor Prof. Andriyana Andreeva, PhD. The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Regional Governor Airie Ibryamova, the Vice President of Varna Free University Yani Yanev and the Deputy Rector Assoc. Prof. Eleonora Tankova, PhD.
The memorandum provides for cooperation in the field of architecture, design and arts, including the development of concepts for urban mobility, visual identity, design and branding. VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" will also provide expert support in the field of arts and cultural management in the implementation of projects of Varna District Administration. Among the agreed areas are also the organization and conduct of creative and cultural events, joint participation in seminars and conferences, exchange of expert assistance and information, as well as the development of initiatives and training programmes.
By signing the document, the two institutions declare their readiness for active cooperation for the benefit of the development of the urban environment and public policies in the 12 municipalities of Varna District, as well as for strengthening the interaction between the academic community and the public administration.
During the conversation, Prof. Andreeva emphasised that the Regional Administration aims to use the potential of higher education institutions in Varna through active partnerships. According to her, interaction with universities will provide an opportunity to create multi-expert teams that will work on important public cases and contribute to the development of the region.
Within the framework of the partnership, it was discussed that the expert capacity of Varna Free University can be used in the implementation of projects for improving the urban environment, initiatives in the field of arts and cultural management, organization of creative events, development of concepts for urban mobility, as well as activities related to the protection of citizens' rights.
The Rector, Prof. Petar Hristov, PhD, recalled that this year Varna Free University celebrates 35 years since its establishment and during this period the institution has established itself as a significant educational and scientific centre. He reported that the enrollment of students in the current academic year is 10% higher than the previous one.
Prof. Hristov emphasised the university's capacity in the education and training of specialists in the field of security, disasters, crises and risk management. He also presented an idea for implementing a project to develop an electronic map of the available equipment and resources in the region, which can be used in natural disasters and accidents. The goal is to have up-to-date information about the location and condition of machines and equipment such as tractors, excavators and other means, which are of key importance in emergency situations.
Both the rector and the regional governor expressed a common opinion that such an initiative would be of exceptional value for the entire region and would contribute to better coordination and response in crisis situations.
