VFU “CHERNORIZETS HRABAR” AND SAKARYA UNIVERSITY IN TURKEY DEEPEN THEIR COOPERATION IN THE FIELD OF EDUCATION

The rector of Varna Free University, Prof. Petar Hristov, PhD, visited Sakarya University in Turkey and held a working meeting with the rector Prof. Hamza Al, PhD. Prof. Hristov's team also included the general secretary of VFU “Chernorizets Hrabar “, Nikolinka Daskalova, and the lecturer, Nadie Adem, PhD.

Within the framework of the visit, it was decided to continue the cooperation that started last year and new agreements were concluded to develop joint bachelor's and master's degree programmes. The exchange of students and teachers under the Erasmus+ programme will also continue. Rector Prof. Al emphasised that this will strengthen the bilateral cooperation between the two universities.

The scope of partnership relations will be expanded in the field of training on fire safety and population protection. Prof. Hakan Soyhan, director of the Fire Research Centre, said that he believes in the importance of the planned trainings to control the growing number of fires and limit the realted material damage.

Last year, studies in the master's programme in Intelligent Security Systems, conducted in Turkish, started at Varna Free University. The first batch of students in the programme includes representatives of the Association of Fire Brigades from the Turkish city of Tekirdag. VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" has nearly 30 years of experience and traditions in training international students in the field of national security. Among the excellent examples of partnership with the Turkish Fire Brigades is the training of 300 firefighters, who are the first firefighters with a higher engineering education in our southern neighbour  country, and 25 Turkish specialists were trained in a doctoral degree in Occupational Safety Techniques and Fire Fighting Techniques.

 The partnership between Varna Free University and Sakarya University will strengthen ties and open up new educational opportunities for students and faculty.
