VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" establishes the standard of high quality with the eighth recertification under ISO 9001:2015

On February 18th, 2025, Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" was recertified for the eighth consecutive time by the International Certification Organization BUREAU VERITAS Certification in accordance with the international standard ISO 9001:2015 and received a certificate with accreditation from UKAS (Great Britain) for a period of 3 years - until 2028.
The first certification of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" in accordance with ISO 9001 was in 2001. The university has eight successfully completed certification cycles, each of which for a period of three years. A few days ago, the university was recertified according to the requirements of the ISO 9001:2015 standard for the fourth time. The quality management system of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" proves sustainable development over time. There is no other higher education institution in Bulgaria that has a 24-year uninterrupted cycle of a certified quality management system.
ISO is an International Organization for Standardization, in which organizations from over 100 countries around the world participate. It develops various quality management standards in a number of areas of business life. ISO standards are adopted by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) and replace national standards with generally accepted international standards. They serve to improve communication and the development of international cooperation worldwide.
The area of certification for Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" under ISO 9001:2015 for the period 2025 - 2028 includes:
- Offering and organizing accredited higher education;
- Doing postgraduate training and specialization, retraining and lifelong learning;
- Doing scientific research and expert-consulting activity;
- Development and participation in international and national scientific-applied projects and initiatives;
- Ensuring inter-university cooperation and academic mobility of students, lecturers and administrative staff, including and in accordance with the academic credit transfer system (ECTS).
Goals that VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" sets itself with the implementation of ISO 9001:2015:
• constant improvement of the quality of the academic product;
• implementation of programme accreditation of professional areas, specialties of regulated professions and doctoral programmes in accordance with the changes in the Higher Education Act;
• adaptability and flexibility of the educational services market;
• effective implementation of the scientific product in the conditions of a market economy;
• integration into the global academic space.
