VFU "CHERNORIZETS HRABAR" OPENED THE ACADEMIC 2021/2022

Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" started its 31st academic year with a festive ceremony in the presence of first-year students, foreign students and guests, with lots of smiles, good mood and flowers. This year the university celebrates 30 years since its establishment under the motto "Learn and seek", words of the brave Bulgarian clergyman Chernorizets Hrabar.
The academic year was opened by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Krassimir Nedyalkov - President of the University. In his greeting to the first-year students he pointed out that their choice of university is logical and correct. The largest private university in Bulgaria has proven itself many times, it has earned a number of awards and recognitions. He wished the students to study hard, to find out who they are and to seek the way to their future. "Be dedicated and persistent on the long road to the horizons of scientific truth and professionalism," the President added.
A greeting on behalf of the academic management of the university was made by Prof. Dr. Petar Hristov - Rector of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar". "The path you are about to take with pride that you are students of VFU" Chernorizets Hrabar" is predestined in the message "Learn and seek ", which our patron left us in his work "About the letters". Dream, study, search and find the answers to the questions of the time", he addressed the students.
Special guests of the ceremony were the Regional Governor of Varna Mario Smarkov, the Varna and Veliko Preslav Metropolitan John, the Consul General of the Russian Federation in Varna Vladimir Klimanov, Dr. Vanuhi Arakelyan - President of the Court of Appeal, Irena Radeva - Head of the Regional Department of Education Varna, arch. Victor Buzev - Chief Architect of the Municipality of Varna, Lilia Hristova - Director of the Directorate "Education and Youth Activities" at the Municipality of Varna, Veselin Vassilev - Deputy Mayor of Primorski region, representatives of universities and research institutes, principles and representatives of secondary schools and vocational high schools, chairmen and members of branch boards to the professional directions and representatives of the business.
Metropolitan John of Varna and Veliko Preslav made a special greeting to the academic community. "During these 30 years, generations of scientists, students, people, have received their education at the university and spiritual continuity has been established, scientific knowledge is passed on from year to year." He wished good luck to the students.
"Learn and seek to be free. Knowledge is freedom, and freedom is responsibility", with these words the regional governor Mario Smurkov addressed the students.
During the ceremony, the first-year students who have the highest success at the entrance exams at VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" were also awarded. Ekaterina Zhelyazkova - a graduate from the First Language High School - Varna, who graduated with excellent results spoke on behalf of all first-year students.
The foreign students at the university were introduced by Andrei Gavrilenko, a doctoral student at the "Alexander and Nikolai Stoletovi" State University in Vladimir, the Russian Federation, who chose Varna Free University for the second time. He is currently doing a research internship after winning a scholarship from the President of the Russian Federation.
The ceremony was attended by students from different countries who take part in the student mobility under the Erasmus + program and will study at VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar".
A unique dance show was created by the students from the Academic Dance Theater of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar". The host of the ceremony was the spiritual companion of the university and favorite actor Svilen Stoyanov.
Today and tomorrow first-year students have the opportunity to look around the university and meet their teachers during the introductory days.
The events marking the 30th anniversary of the university will continue on October 4, 2021, when the world-famous musician Teodosii Spasov will be awarded the title of Doctor Honoris Causa at VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar".
