Varna Free University celebrates 23 April, the world book day
23rd April is the world book and copyright day. The date has been chosen to commemorate the world famous authors Miguel de Cervantes, William Shakespeare and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega who died on that same day in 1616.
Students, lecturers and staff started the day with a smile and a reminder of their favourite book. At 12:45 the celebration continued with a reading marathon organized by the Department of Foreign Languages, the Russian Centre and the library at Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar”. In the Russian Centre the participants read excerpts from their favourite books in different languages.
Varna Free University is taking part in the initiative “Set a book free on the Book Day”. The idea is for hundreds of books to be “set free” in the public space through the initiative Bookcrossing, thus making books and reading an active part of university’s daily life.
