WORKS OF STUDENTS FROM VARNA FREE UNIVERSITY WILL BE PRESENTED AT AN EXHIBITION IN FRANCE

27 October 2025

Paintings, graphics, collages and photographs by students of the Graphic Design major at Varna Free University will be presented in an exhibition at the Jean Wagner Socio-Cultural Centre in Mulhouse, France. The opening is on 30 October and is part of the project “Crossing Eyes, Shared Paths”.

The project brings together young artists who use art to build bridges of understanding between cultures. Within its framework, Bulgarian students participate in creative workshops together with French young people, sharing experience and inspiration through painting, collages and photography. The created works will be included in the exhibition together with original works by students of the Graphic Design major: Adriana Agarunova, Alisa Dzhelil, Anastasia Maksimova, Desislava Koleva, Yoanna Hristova, Lyubomira Dimitrova, Magdalena Gachovska, Mila Genova, Monika Tsvetanova, Petar Tsvetkov and Todor Stoychev.

In Mulhouse, the university is represented by Adriana Agarunova – a third-year student, Yoanna Hristova – a student in the master’s programme in Arts and Event Management, and Petar Tsvetkov – a fourth-year student, together with their lecturers Prof. Valeri Chakalov, PhD and Assoc. Prof. Viktor Petkov, PhD. They are in France at the invitation of the Jean Wagner Socio-Cultural Centre.

The project “Crossing Glances, Shared Paths” encourages young people, including those from immigrant families, to express their attitude to the topic of migration and cultural diversity through art. The aim is to overcome stereotypes through creativity and to show that difference is a value – both for Mulhouse and for the whole of Europe.

The exhibition emphasises the role of art as a means of communication, mutual understanding and creative cooperation between young people from different countries.
